African Development Bank Internship Program 2027 Session 1 for African Students and Graduates
Applications are open for Session 1 of the African Development Bank Internship Program 2027. The programme is designed for students and recent Master’s graduates seeking professional and practical experience within a pan-African development institution.
The Bank plans to recruit 40 interns for the session, which is scheduled to begin in January 2027. Selected participants may support departmental work connected to the African Development Bank’s operational activities and development priorities.
About African Development Bank
The African Development Bank is a pan-African development institution established in 1964. It promotes economic growth and social progress across Africa by providing financial and technical support for development projects.
The Bank has 81 member states, including 54 African regional member countries. Its work supports development priorities such as capital mobilisation, financial-system reform, human-capital development, climate-resilient infrastructure, industrialisation, and value-chain development.

About The African Development Bank Internship Program
The internship provides students and recent Master’s graduates with an opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a professional working environment. Interns are selected competitively according to the Bank’s operational and staffing needs and may be assigned to departments at the headquarters in Abidjan, regional offices, or country offices.
- Session: Session 1, 2027
- Expected start: January 2027
- Duration: Three to six months
- Planned intake: 40 interns
- Work arrangement: Remote or on-site, depending on the needs of the hiring unit
- Locations: African Development Bank headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire; regional offices; and country offices
The internship is authorised only once for each candidate. Participation does not guarantee immediate employment with the African Development Bank after the internship.
Internship Activities And Responsibilities
Interns will work within an assigned department and contribute to tasks related to their field of study and the Bank’s operations.
Their responsibilities may include:
- Supporting activities within an assigned department.
- Contributing to projects and initiatives related to the Bank’s operations.
- Applying academic knowledge to practical workplace assignments.
- Participating in departmental activities.
- Completing tasks assigned by the relevant department or hiring unit.
- Gaining practical experience connected to the Bank’s strategic and operational focus areas.

Requirements
- The programme is intended for students and recent Master’s graduates.
- Applicants must observe the specific conditions applicable to the internship selection.
- Each candidate may be authorised to undertake the internship only once.
- Applicants with dual nationality must select one nationality for consideration during career registration; the Bank does not accept dual nationality for career registration.
- Remote interns must have access to a personal computer.
- Remote interns must have a reliable internet connection.
- Remote interns must have a suitable environment that allows them to work without interruption.
- Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Benefits
Eligible interns will receive financial and health-related support during the internship period.
- A monthly stipend for eligible interns.
- Medical insurance paid by the African Development Bank during the internship period.
- Reasonable assistance with entry and residence visas, where applicable.
On-site interns are responsible for their air travel, where applicable, and living expenses. Visa assistance does not remove the intern’s responsibility to meet applicable entry and residence requirements.

Remote And On-Site Arrangements
The work arrangement depends on the needs of the hiring unit. Interns assigned to on-site positions may work at the Bank’s headquarters, regional offices, or country offices. Interns assigned to remote positions must provide the equipment, internet access, and work environment required for uninterrupted participation.
Selection And Notifications
Applications are reviewed competitively in line with the Bank’s operational and staffing needs. Applicants who meet the eligibility conditions and are selected for further assessment will be contacted.
All applicants are expected to receive an email notification of their application outcome by 30 November 2026. The application window closes at midnight GMT on 12 October 2026.
The African Development Bank does not charge applicants fees at any stage of recruitment and does not request applicants’ bank-account information.
