Purpose of the Assignment

The aim of this assignment is to engage qualified research personnel to support the End-of-Round (EoR) Evaluation of the Mass Drug Administration for Azithromycin (MDA-AZM) program. The evaluation will be based on the Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) approach and conducted across select states. The hired personnel will be involved in data collection, analysis, and interpretation of findings.

Scope of Assignment

Key tasks include:

  • Selection and training of supervisors during a Training of Trainers (ToT).
  • Training of data collectors in each state.
  • Household-level data collection using mobile devices.
  • Analysis of data and report writing.

Methodology

The End-of-Round Evaluation is designed to:

  • Measure Azithromycin (AZM) coverage.
  • Assess adherence of Community Drug Distributors (CDDs) to treatment protocols.
  • Provide feedback for improvement: Any ward (lot) scoring below 80% will be targeted for corrective measures before the next treatment round.

Responsibilities of Data Collectors

  • Participate in a 2-day training on MDA-AZM, survey methodology, data collection tools, and interpersonal communication.
  • Conduct household interviews using Kobo Collect or SurveyCTO platforms.
  • Upload data accurately and promptly to the central server.
  • Respond to supervisor feedback and correct any errors or inconsistencies in data submission.

Expected Deliverables

  • Complete, verified datasets of household interviews submitted via Kobo/SurveyCTO.
  • Adherence to timelines and data quality standards.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum B.Sc. or HND in Social Sciences, Public Health, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in public health research, particularly data collection.
  • Proven ability to use smartphones or tablets for data entry and uploading.
  • Experience in LQAS surveys is an advantage.
  • Fluency in local languages (e.g., Hausa, Kanuri) and familiarity with the cultural and geographic context.
  • Must reside in the selected state and be willing to work in remote communities.
  • Preference may be given to female or mixed-gender teams in certain locations.

Disqualification Criteria

Applicants must not:

  • Be a government staff at any level.
  • Be currently engaged in any role with the MDA-AZM programme.
  • Have been blacklisted during previous program activities.
