Through our network of dedicated female health professionals – the Lafiya Sisters – we provide accurate information and deliver contraceptives directly to underserved communities. Our model is community-based, cost-effective, and rooted in respect, dignity, and agency.

We currently operate across four states in northern Nigeria, supporting a strong network of 280 Lafiya Sisters. To date, our innovative last-mile approach has enabled over 200,000 women to access family planning services and make informed reproductive health choices.

  • Building our own supply chain to overcome widespread contraceptive shortages in Nigeria.
  • Partnering with government stakeholders to create sustainable financing models for reproductive health products.
  • Expanding our programmes to ensure that no woman is left behind, regardless of her location.

Role Details

  • Job Title: Data Verification Officer (DVO)
  • Type: Full-time, 12-month renewable contract (subject to funding & performance)
  • Compensation: ₦300,000 – ₦385,000 gross per month, plus benefits
  • Location: One role each in Kano, Jigawa, Kebbi, and Sokoto (four positions in total)
  • Reports to: Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist

Position Overview

The Data Verification Officer (DVO) plays a vital role in ensuring Lafiya’s programmes are delivered with accuracy, accountability, and integrity.

You will support day-to-day programme delivery with the state team while also reporting directly to Lafiya’s central Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) function.

Your responsibility is to guarantee that programme data is accurate, reliable, and independently verified — providing the evidence that drives Lafiya’s decision-making, supply chain transparency, and programme accountability.

This is a hands-on field role that requires frequent travel, verification visits, and close interaction with Lafiya Sisters, facility staff, and Central Medical Store (CMS) teams.

What You’ll Do

As a Data Verification Officer, you will:

  • Support the Program Officer with day-to-day follow-up tasks, ensuring programme activities run smoothly and on schedule.
  • Conduct independent spot checks on Lafiya Sisters’ performance, including counselling quality and adherence to protocols.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of reports submitted by Lafiya Sisters and Program Officers; escalate discrepancies to the central M&E team.
  • Act as a data bridge between state teams and central M&E, ensuring accurate and timely data flow.
  • Support (but not lead) training and refresher sessions for Lafiya Sisters on reporting tools, data standards, and collection practices.
  • Monitor contraceptive stock and related materials at the Central Medical Store, carrying out weekly cycle counts and reconciliations.
  • Flag supply chain or logistics challenges early, supporting resolution in collaboration with the Program Officer and Operations team.
  • Build strong working relationships with CMS staff, Lafiya Sisters, and facility staff, while maintaining verification independence.
  • Conduct periodic data validations, stock checks, and follow-up visits as directed.
  • Prepare concise summaries of verification findings and share insights with both state and central teams to inform improvements.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Statistics, Social Sciences, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in monitoring & evaluation, programme operations, or data collection.

Skills & Personal Qualities

  • Strong skills in data entry, verification, and analysis (Excel/Google Sheets).
  • Experience with digital data collection tools (e.g., SurveyCTO).
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Hausa.
  • High standards of integrity, accuracy, and safeguarding.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the state, including rural areas, and work flexibly (evenings/weekends if needed).
