CREDICORP Launches Project S.C.A.L.E. to Boost Consumer Credit and Local Enterprise Growth
The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP), a federal development finance institution, has officially launched Project S.C.A.L.E. (Securing Consumer Access for Local Enterprises)—a bold initiative aimed at increasing demand for locally produced goods and services through access to consumer credit.
Empowering Nigerians and Local Industries
Project S.C.A.L.E. is designed to stimulate growth in Nigeria’s industrial sector by making affordable consumer credit available for the purchase of goods and services from local manufacturers and vendors.
The program is expected to drive industrial expansion, create employment opportunities, and improve household welfare across the country.
With a target of empowering one million Nigerians through credit-backed purchases, CREDICORP is calling on local businesses to participate. Interested manufacturers and vendors can submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) through the official S.C.A.L.E. portal.

Key Focus Sectors
To maximize its economic impact, Project S.C.A.L.E. prioritizes five high-demand sectors critical to consumer needs and industrial growth:
- Home Improvement – Furniture, appliances, and building materials.
- Mobility – Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and electric vehicles for greener transportation.
- Electronics & Digital Products – Consumer technology tools and devices.
- Energy Solutions – Generators and solar power systems to ensure reliable energy access.
- General Merchandise – Including healthcare, apparel, textiles, and food & beverages.
By strategically targeting these sectors, the initiative seeks to support everyday needs while strengthening local enterprises.
Leadership’s Perspective
Highlighting the transformative nature of the project, Uzoma Nwagba, Managing Director/CEO of CREDICORP, noted:
“CREDICORP has grown from an idea championed by Mr. President into a reality that now involves multiple financial institutions and benefits over 30,000 civil servants through consumer credit. Our product-led approach ensures that consumer credit is tailored to high-impact areas, while simultaneously encouraging the purchase of locally made goods and services.”
