The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was established by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with the constitutional responsibility of organizing, undertaking, and supervising elections into various political offices across the country.

Welcome to the INEC Portal for the Engagement of Election Staff (INECPRES). This portal enables eligible Nigerian citizens to register and apply for engagement as Ad-Hoc Staff for electoral duties.

Eligibility Criteria

Below are the available positions and their specific requirements. Applicants are strongly advised to read all instructions carefully before starting the registration process.

Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO)

Requirements:

Advertisements
  • Must be a Public/Civil Servant on Grade Level (GL) 10–14, or
  • A Registration Area Officer (RAO) or INEC permanent staff not engaged in other election duties (GL 10–14).

Registration Area Centre (RAC) Manager

Requirements:

  • Must be a Head of School, or
  • A staff member on GL 07 and above of the school, institution, or public building hosting the RAC.

Presiding Officer (PO) / Assistant Presiding Officer (APO)

Requirements (any of the following):

Advertisements
  • A Serving NYSC Corps Member, or
  • A Penultimate student of a Federal or State tertiary institution with basic IT knowledge, or
  • A Permanent staff of an MDA with an OND qualification or on GL 07–10, or
  • INEC permanent staff on GL 07 or 08, or
  • A Former NYSC Corps Member (not earlier than 2022, i.e. 2022, 2023, or 2024).

Registration Area Technical Support Staff (RATECH)

Requirements:

  • Must have a background in Information Technology (IT).
  • Must be a suitable INEC ICT staff (State or Headquarters) not engaged in other election duties.

General Conditions

  • Applicants must not be members of any political party.
  • Applicants must not have demonstrated or expressed support for any political party or candidate.
  • Applicants must reside in the selected state, except RATECH applicants.

What You Need Before Registration

Before registering on the portal, ensure you have the following:

  • A functional email address
  • An active mobile phone number
  • A personal bank account number
  • A recent passport photograph (white background, not more than 5MB)
  • Contact details of two referees (email addresses and phone numbers)
  • A valid Staff ID or Student ID
  • NYSC Call-up Number:
    • For former corps members (not earlier than 2018)
    • For current corps members (2022 Call-up)
  • A copy of your highest qualification in PDF format
  • A copy of a means of identification in JPG or JPEG format

How to Apply (Step-by-Step)

For New Applicants

  1. Review the requirements for all available positions to confirm your eligibility.
  2. Click “Register” and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Create a password. Once completed, you will be automatically logged into the portal.
  4. Complete the Application Form, which is divided into:
    • Personal Information
    • Contact Information
    • Bank Details

    Ensure your names match your BVN records. Details cannot be edited after submission.

  5. Upload your passport photograph (plain background, maximum size 5MB).
  6. Provide referee details.
  7. Check the attestation box to confirm that all information provided is accurate.
  8. Submit your application.
  9. Print your acknowledgement slip (mandatory for final verification).

Returning Applicants
