The University of Twente Kipaji Scholarship is designed to support highly talented students from developing countries who demonstrate strong academic potential but lack sufficient financial means to study in the Netherlands.

The Kipaji Scholarship Fund was established by alumni and supporters of the University of Twente, with continued backing from university staff and graduates.
Through annual fundraising campaigns, alumni and employees contribute to making this scholarship available to talented students from low-income and developing countries.
Located in the Netherlands, the University of Twente (UT) offers a wide range of internationally oriented, high-quality master’s programmes and specialisations.
These programmes equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills, improving their employability and providing opportunities to pursue careers in research, academia, or entrepreneurship.

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the University of Twente Kipaji Scholarship, applicants must:
- Meet all eligibility requirements for the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS)
- Hold the nationality of a DAC-listed country (Least Developed Countries or Other Low-Income Countries)
- Be awarded a partial University of Twente Scholarship (the Kipaji Scholarship complements it to form a full scholarship)
- Have achieved excellent academic results, including:
- An average grade of 8.0 in the pre-master’s programme (where applicable)
- Submit a motivation letter explaining how their studies at the University of Twente will:
- Enhance scientific development, or
- Support entrepreneurial growth in their home country

- Academic transcripts
- Proof of University of Twente Scholarship award
- A motivation letter (upon faculty request)
- Other documents as specified by the University of Twente

How to Apply for the University of Twente Kipaji Scholarship 2026
To apply for the Kipaji Scholarship:
- Apply for admission to a master’s programme at the University of Twente.
- Apply for and receive a University of Twente Scholarship (UTS).
- Indicate in your UTS motivation letter that you also wish to be considered for the Kipaji Scholarship, provided you meet the eligibility criteria.
- The faculty of your chosen programme will nominate eligible candidates for the Kipaji Scholarship.
- Upon request, submit a separate motivation letter outlining how your studies will contribute to scientific or entrepreneurial development in your home country.
