The Federal Ministry of Works hereby announces an Extension of Call for Applications for the engagement of Unemployed Graduate Engineers (Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical) and Skilled Artisans across all Local Government Areas in Nigeria under the Ministry’s Capacity Building and On-Site Training Programme.
This initiative is a flagship intervention of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s technical capacity, empowering young Nigerians, and supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure projects nationwide.
Through this programme, selected participants will receive hands-on practical training, mentorship, and project-based exposure, while actively contributing to ongoing Federal Government construction and infrastructure works.
Eligible applicants will be deployed to contractors handling Federal Ministry of Works projects within or near their regions.
Participants will undergo structured field training and temporary engagement designed to enhance professional competence, improve employability, and facilitate the transfer of modern construction technologies.
2.0 Programme Objectives
- To equip young engineers and artisans with hands-on experience in modern construction methods.
- To build a sustainable local talent pipeline for Nigeria’s infrastructure development.
- To reduce youth unemployment through structured, short-term engagement.
- To strengthen project delivery by integrating trained local support personnel.

3.0 Eligibility Categories
1. Graduate Engineers
Holders of B.Eng, B.Tech, or HND in:
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
2. Skilled Artisans (Technical Category)
Including but not limited to:
- Masonry
- Carpentry
- Steel Reinforcement Work
- Plumbing
- Welding and Fabrication
- Electrical Installation
- Heavy Equipment Operation
- Surveying Assistants
4.0 Application Criteria

a) Graduate Engineers
Applicants must:
- Be Nigerian citizens aged 18–35 years.
- Possess a degree or HND in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Be currently unemployed and not engaged in government service or full-time employment.
- Provide evidence of NYSC completion, exemption, or exclusion.
- Reside in or be willing to work within any Local Government Area where Ministry projects are located.
- Demonstrate basic computer literacy (knowledge of engineering software is an added advantage).
- Show willingness to fully participate in structured field training modules.
b) Skilled Artisans
Applicants must:
- Be Nigerian citizens aged 18–45 years.
- Possess recognized vocational training, trade test certificates, or verifiable practical experience.
- Be unemployed at the time of application.
- Be physically fit for construction-related field work.
- Be willing to undergo additional training, safety certification, and supervised project attachment.

5.0 Programme Features
- Temporary engagement with monthly stipends.
- Field mentorship under registered engineers and certified supervisors.
- Hands-on training at Federal construction project sites.
- Provision of basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Certification upon successful completion of the programme.
- Priority consideration for future government or contractor engagements.
