Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree programme, or be a recent graduate, from a recognised institution listed in the IAU/UNESCO database
  • Specialise in a field relevant to FAO’s mandate and areas of work
  • Be a national of an FAO Member Nation
  • Be aged between 21 and 30 years
  • Have a working knowledge of at least one FAO language: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish
    (Knowledge of a second FAO language is an advantage)
  • Language proficiency must be supported by certificates from UN-accredited providers or FAO official examinations (LPE, ILE, or LRT)
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a multicultural and international environment, with strong communication skills
  • Not have immediate family members (parents or siblings) employed by FAO under any contractual arrangement
  • Possess the appropriate residence or immigration status in the proposed duty station prior to the start of the internship

Internship Benefits

  • USD 700 monthly stipend for interns not sponsored by universities or other institutions
  • Medical coverage throughout the internship period
  • Hands-on professional training and exposure to FAO’s global operations

All selected interns will receive the stipend for the entire duration of the internship.
