The Consulate General Lagos serves as the Mission’s representative to the people of Nigeria in the southern region.

Summary
The U.S. Consulate General Lagos is inviting eligible and qualified applicants to apply for two (2) Non-Immigrant/Immigrant Visa Assistant positions in the Consular Section.
Duties
The Visa Assistant (NIV/IV) performs a wide range of consular duties related to the delivery of Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) and Immigrant Visa (IV) services in accordance with established visa processing guidelines and the Consular Section’s Standard Operating Procedures.

Key responsibilities include:
- Data entry and document review
- Managing correspondence
- Passport manifesting and visa printing
- Performing general office administrative tasks
- Providing customer service to applicants both in person and through written communication
The role requires a strong focus on customer service, as the Consular Section interacts daily with a diverse group of applicants.
The position demands a high level of attention to detail to ensure cases meet documentary requirements, identify trends or potential issues, and escalate concerns when necessary.
The successful candidate will be fully cross-trained and expected to function in various roles depending on visa demand and scheduling needs.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Education Requirements
- Completion of at least two years of college or university studies is required.
Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience involving the application of laws and regulations, extensive public interaction, customer service, or problem-solving is required.
Additional Requirements
- Selected candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Candidates will undergo a background investigation and may be required to complete a pre-employment medical examination.
- The selected candidate must be able to commence employment within six (6) weeks of receiving agency authorization and/or required clearances. Failure to do so may result in withdrawal of the offer.

- Sound judgment in evaluating evidence, safeguarding sensitive information, and correctly applying regulations.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English is required.
- Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing at least one of the following Nigerian languages is required: Yoruba, Igbo, or Hausa.
Salary: USD 19,951 per year
