The AYuTe Africa Challenge (Agriculture, Youth, and Technology) is a continent-wide initiative that promotes youth innovation in agriculture by encouraging young entrepreneurs to develop practical solutions for smallholder farmers. Through this initiative, innovators receive mentorship, funding opportunities, and visibility that help turn promising ideas into scalable agritech businesses.
About the Challenge
The AYuTe Africa Challenge Nigeria is an enterprise development program initiated by Heifer International and implemented by Wennovation Hub to identify, nurture, and support innovative, relevant and technology-driven agric-centric enterprises to grow, scale and thrive.
Candidates should be early-stage or growth-stage youth-led agritech businesses/companies with innovative solutions impacting small holder farmers at scale.

Prize Opportunity
The AYuTe Nigeria Challenge 2026 is offering:
- $20,000 (Winner)
- $12,000 (1st Runner-Up)
- $8,000 (2nd Runner-Up)
- Total: $40,000
But beyond the money, this is visibility, validation, and access to ecosystem players who understand agriculture. This challenge is for young Nigerians (18–35) running registered agritech startups whether early stage or scaling
Challenge Theme
Leveraging Youth-Led Ag-Tech to Transform Nigeria’s Food Systems
Participants are encouraged to present innovative digital tools, platforms, or technologies that can improve agricultural productivity, sustainability, and resilience in Nigeria.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be aged 18-35 by the closing day of submission to the AYuTe Nigeria challenge
- Be a youth with innovative ideas focusing on the agriculture sector
- Have ideas that are proven to solve social problems and are implementable, technically feasible, economically sound (affordable), and environmentally smart (eco-friendly)
- Hold Nigerian nationality with official ID (national identity card, international passport, or permanent voters’ card)
- Produce financial statements for the venture
- Be the founder or co-founder of the enterprise represented in the competition and play an active role in its operations and leadership
- Have no criminal record related to corruption, tax evasion, financial impropriety, felony or other offences
