Call for Applications: Chatham house Common Futures Conversations 2026 | Fully Remote

Young people are often overlooked as leaders or underestimated as experts in their own lived experiences. To address this gap, Chatham House has been building a diverse global community of young people, creating opportunities for them to engage in international dialogue and connect directly with policymakers to ensure their voices are heard.

Common Futures Conversations (CFC) is an initiative of the QEII Academy for Leadership and the Next Generation, designed to foster a vibrant community of young leaders and integrate their ideas into major global policy discussions.

The online platform was originally developed with a network of 27 young people from 13 countries, building on a youth-led survey co-created with Chatham House researchers and conducted in January 2019.

Since its launch, CFC has engaged over 2,000 young people from more than 120 countries, facilitating regular discussions with high-level representatives from national governments and regional organisations, including the African Union and the European Union.

What does joining the CFC community involve?

CFC members participate in online monthly “challenges”—structured dialogues on specific policy topics that allow participants to engage with Chatham House experts, explore research insights, and develop their own informed perspectives.

To gain the full benefit of the programme, participants are encouraged to commit 1–2 hours per week, which includes:

  • Engaging in discussions on the CFC online platform
  • Attending monthly CFC-specific virtual events
  • Accessing Chatham House events, research, and publications

Participants may also be invited to take part in additional Chatham House events and opportunities beyond the core CFC programme.
