WACSI Next Generation Internship Programme 2026 for Young Graduates and Early-Career Professionals | Fully Funded
Applications are now open for the 2026 WACSI Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP). West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) invites young professionals from Nigeria, Guinea, Niger, and Togo to apply for this fully funded six-month internship programme, scheduled to run from July to December 2026.
This opportunity is designed for fresh graduates and early-career professionals with academic backgrounds in fields such as international affairs, political science, public policy, law, development studies, or related disciplines, who are passionate about civil society and non-profit management.
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a minimum of a first degree in international affairs, political science, public policy, law, development studies, or a related field
- Be from Nigeria, Guinea, Niger, or Togo
- Demonstrate interest in civil society and non-profit organisation management

Benefits
This is a fully funded internship programme. Selected interns will receive:
- Return flight tickets to and from their home country
- Furnished accommodation
- Lunch during working days throughout the internship
- Monthly stipend
Accommodation & Location
Interns will gain hands-on experience in capacity development, policy influencing and advocacy, and knowledge management while receiving full support.
- Interns from Guinea, Niger, and Togo will be based in Accra, Ghana, with accommodation provided
- The Nigerian intern will be based in Abuja, Nigeria
Important: Nigerian applicants must already reside in Abuja, as accommodation will not be provided.

Job Role – Responsibilities for Interns
Successful applicants will be expected to:
- Support the design and implementation of institutional assessment tools, training, and technical support
- Participate in programme/project planning and proposal development
- Provide administrative support, budget monitoring, tracking, and calendar management
- Assist with organising training sessions and technical support activities
- Serve as liaison between WACSI and partners, associates, beneficiaries, and resource persons
- Help design and develop training resources such as toolkits and modules
- Research, write, and produce briefings and fact sheets on ongoing programmes
- Draft work plans, reports, concept notes, presentations, and budget proposals
- Conduct desktop research on policy and legislative issues
- Gather information and prepare reports for policy meetings
- Support policy meetings and workshop preparation
- Assist in the development of policy advocacy training tools
- Carry out other administrative tasks as assigned

Required Skills
- Strong interest in civil society and non-profit management
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong internet research skills
- Bilingual ability (French & English or English & Portuguese)

Important Notes
- Preference will be given to applicants highly proficient in English, French, or Portuguese, with working knowledge of another language
- Interns from Guinea, Niger, and Togo will spend a major part of the programme at the WACSI office in Accra
- The Nigerian intern will work from the WACSI Node Office in Abuja
- Internship duration is July to December 2026
- Interns who fail to complete the six-month programme may be required to refund the full internship package cost
