About the British Council Nigeria Internship Programme
The internship programme provides graduates with hands-on experience working with British Council teams in Nigeria.
Depending on the position, interns will support IT operations, legal and executive administration, facilities management, projects and other day-to-day organisational activities while learning from experienced professionals.

Available Internship Positions
1. IT Intern – Lagos
The IT Intern will support the British Council’s technology operations and provide technical assistance to staff.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide first and second-level technical support
- Support routine ICT operations
- Assist with software installations and infrastructure upgrades
- Monitor servers, networks and IT systems
- Support IT security and Wi-Fi management
- Assist with vendor management
- Maintain IT inventory and records
- Support ICT projects

Requirements
- Graduate-level or second-degree education in Computer Science or a related IT discipline
- Knowledge and interest in IT operations
- Relevant post-NYSC experience is desirable
2. Legal Executive Assistant Intern – Lagos
This role provides legal, governance, executive and administrative support to the General Counsel and Company Secretary.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with legal and administrative documentation
- Proofread documents and correspondence
- Support records and contract administration
- Coordinate meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagements
- Assist with audits, compliance, risk and data protection activities
- Prepare reports, presentations and briefing materials
- Support Senior Leadership Team projects and initiatives

Requirements
- Must be a recent graduate who graduated within the last three years
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Good multitasking ability and attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint
Experience in legal, administrative, executive assistant or project coordination work is desirable.
A Law degree is not required.
3. Facilities Management Intern – Kano
The intern will support the day-to-day management and operation of the British Council’s Kano office.
Responsibilities include:
- Support office and facilities management
- Conduct routine facility and equipment checks
- Assist with maintenance and security activities
- Support customer care services
- Assist with facilities projects and building improvements
- Provide logistical support for visitors
- Support vehicle and driver management
Requirements
- Graduate-level education in any discipline
- Must have graduated within the last four years
- Good written and spoken English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated interest in Facilities Management
4. Facilities Management Intern – Port Harcourt
The role supports the management, maintenance and daily operations of the British Council’s Port Harcourt office.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with office and facilities management
- Conduct routine facility and equipment inspections
- Support maintenance, security and customer care
- Assist with building improvement projects
- Provide logistical support to visitors
- Support vehicle and driver administration
- Assist with basic IT administration
Requirements
- Graduate-level education in any field
