The intern must be based within one of the geographical regions covered by the Flying Labs Network.

About the Role

The Communications Intern will support the Flying Labs Network’s content creation, storytelling and digital communications activities.

This is a non-technical position. Applicants do not need to be experts in drones, robotics or artificial intelligence. Instead, WeRobotics is looking for someone with strong communication and storytelling abilities who is interested in using digital media to support social impact.

The role provides exposure to an international network and the opportunity to work with people and organizations across different countries and cultures.

Key Responsibilities

The Communications Intern will:

  • Receive, review, edit and publish blog posts submitted by Flying Labs.
  • Ensure submitted content meets editorial, formatting and quality standards before publication.
  • Notify Flying Labs when their new blog posts have been published.
  • Write and publish announcements about new Flying Labs joining the Network.
  • Prepare communications regarding Flying Labs leaving or transitioning within the Network.
  • Support Flying Labs Community Coordinators with editing and improving use cases and story maps.
  • Assist Flying Labs that need support developing, writing or refining blog posts.
  • Compile Flying Labs blog posts, use cases and story maps for the monthly external email newsletter.
  • Transform website and blog content into engaging social media posts for Flying Labs Network channels.
  • Publish blog posts relating to selected Flying Labs webinars.
  • Support projects involving other WeRobotics teams based on the intern’s interests and skills.

Key Competencies and Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • An academic background in Creative Writing, Communications, Media, Journalism, Digital Marketing or a related discipline.
  • Strong written communication and storytelling abilities.
  • Experience managing or working with blogs and websites.
  • Experience with email newsletters and social media scheduling tools.
  • Native or proficient English-language ability.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage responsibilities effectively.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of tasks.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency with online collaboration tools such as Google Workspace/G-Suite, Slack and Monday.
  • Strong cross-cultural communication skills and an interest in working with people from different countries and backgrounds.

Language Advantage

English proficiency is required. Applicants who also have strong French or Spanish language skills will have an advantage.

Possibility of a Junior Position
