Project Overview

The Reaching Out-of-School Children (ROOSC) Project seeks to improve access to inclusive and equitable quality primary education for marginalized and out-of-school children in Kaduna State.

The project places strong emphasis on community engagement, accountability to affected populations, and responsiveness to the feedback and concerns of children, caregivers, and community members.

To strengthen community-based Feedback and Reporting Mechanisms (FRMs), the project requires the deployment of Accountability Field Assistants across the 23 target LGAs.

These Field Assistants will support the effective operationalization of accountability systems and ensure that feedback from affected populations is collected, documented, and responded to in a timely, safe, and confidential manner.

Location: Kaduna State – 23 LGAs

Scope of Work

Recruit qualified Accountability Field Assistants to support community-based accountability activities across the ROOSC implementing LGAs.

Responsibilities of the Field Assistant

  • Ensure effective monitoring, documentation, referral, and follow-up of feedback and complaints from children and adults.
  • Facilitate community awareness and sensitization on the use of Feedback and Reporting Mechanism (FRM) tools.
  • Share relevant program information with children and community members.
  • Sensitize LGAs and communities on accountability mechanisms.
  • Gather feedback and accurately interpret written feedback and documentation into the project database.

Call for Volunteers

Field Assistants will be required to:

  • Draft activity and field monitoring reports.
  • Conduct routine monitoring of learning centers.
  • Translate feedback collected from community feedback boxes.
  • Translate feedback from local languages into English.
  • Receive and respond to beneficiary complaints under the guidance and supervision of MEAL Coordinators/Officers.
  • Perform any other duties assigned as required.

Other Responsibilities

  • Fully comply with the SCI Code of Conduct and ensure the Child Safeguarding Policy is strictly upheld at all times.
  • Adhere to SCI standards and quality requirements in all project activities.

Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in community-based programming or field data collection.
  • Strong familiarity with the local context, culture, and language(s) of the target LGAs.
  • Knowledge of child safeguarding/protection, education, or accountability programming is an added advantage.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic skills in smartphone or tablet-based data collection.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to remote areas.
