Applications Now Open: Intensive 6-Month Solar and Inverter Installation Training (IDEAS Project)
The Federal Ministry of Education, in collaboration with Oxford-TVET, is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project.
This flagship Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative is designed to equip young Nigerians with market-relevant, practical skills that promote employment, self-reliance, and entrepreneurship.
As Nigeria’s energy sector continues its transition toward renewable and sustainable power solutions, the demand for skilled solar technicians has grown significantly.
This programme is strategically developed to bridge the skills gap in the renewable energy industry by delivering high-quality, hands-on technical training aligned with industry standards.
Programme Overview
The IDEAS Project provides specialised technical training aimed at transforming participants into competent professionals or successful business owners.
This training track focuses on Solar and Inverter Installation and Maintenance, offering a comprehensive curriculum that spans:
- Fundamental electrical principles
- Solar power systems and components
- Inverter installation and configuration
- System design, safety practices, and troubleshooting
- Maintenance and fault diagnosis

The Opportunity
- Training Duration: 6 months (Intensive)
- Specialisation: Solar and Inverter Installation and Maintenance
- Mode: Full-time, practical skill acquisition
- Location: Nationwide (available in selected states across Nigeria)
Target Audience and Eligibility
This programme is designed as a social intervention targeted at unemployed Nigerians, with the objective of creating sustainable career pathways through long-term skill acquisition.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Employment Status: Applicants must be currently unemployed
- Nationality: Must be a citizen of Nigeria
- Availability: Must be able to commit fully to the 6-month intensive training period
- Interest and Aptitude: Strong interest in technical work, renewable energy, and vocational excellence
- Age Group: Targeted at youth, in line with Federal Ministry of Education guidelines
