The SECT program, powered by Student Energy in partnership with the Enel Foundation, is an immersive, multi-disciplinary online training initiative.
It is designed to equip participants with leadership, project management, and technical skills, while also offering personalized career coaching, mentorship, and hands-on experience with top energy companies.

What’s New in 2025?
The sixth cohort of the SECT program will prioritize young African women, aiming to break the barriers that limit their access to the global energy workforce.
With research forecasting 30 million new jobs in low-carbon technologies by 2030—3.3 million of which will be in Africa—this program is a timely intervention to ensure that African women are not left behind.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply, you must:
- Identify as a woman and currently reside in any African country
- Be 18–30 years old
- Be fluent in English and able to actively engage in all online sessions
- Be currently enrolled in or a graduate of any post-secondary diploma or degree program
- Have reliable internet access to participate in virtual sessions and collaborative work
Program Timeline
1. Mid-July to Mid-August: Foundational Coursework
- Launch webinar + 6 core learning units + 1 assignment
- Introductory coaching calls and team meetings
- Time commitment: ~4 hours/week
2. Mid-August to Mid-December: Practicum Phase
- Weekly meetings with Project Partner and team
- Work on a real-world project + specialized curriculum
- Time commitment: ~10 hours/week
3. Early January to Early February: Career Development
- Complete career-focused modules and webinars
- Attend 1:1 career coaching sessions and virtual networking mixers
- Time commitment: ~4 hours/week
