The Basotho Enterprises Development Corporation (BEDCO) is a parastatal of the government of Lesotho that was established by an Act of Parliament: BEDCO Act No.9 of 1980 (as amended) mandated “to promote the development of Basotho-owned enterprises and of Indigenous entrepreneurial skills and for connected purposes.”

​BEDCO fulfills this mandate through facilitating the establishment and growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)s by performing the following functions:

• Provision of business development support services.
• Promotion and entrenchment of an entrepreneurial culture in Lesotho.
• Facilitation of the establishment of incubation services.
• Advocacy for an enabling regulatory framework and appropriate licensing regime for MSME.
• Facilitation of access to finance and markets

Bacha Entrepreneurship Project Eligibility

• Open to Basotho youth aged 21 to 35.
• Completion of the Cambridge Overseas School Certificate (COSC) or Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education (LGCSE) or higher.
• No formal employment opportunities after obtaining qualifications.
• A genuine interest in starting a business.
• Proposals are also welcome from start-ups led by eligible youth seeking funding for expansion.
• Submissions will be evaluated based on innovation, feasibility, a strong business case, and sustainability.
