Educational Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 credits at SSCE or equivalent, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
  • Candidates with OND (Lower Credit) in Marine or Mechanical Engineering will have an added advantage.

Application Guidelines / General Qualifications

Citizenship & Age

  • Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth (dual citizenship is not permitted).
  • Must be 18 – 26 years old by 31 December 2025.

Educational Qualifications

Applicants must possess one or more of the following qualifications:

  • WASSCE/SSCE/NECO/GCE O’Level (not more than 2 sittings and not older than 6 years from date of application).
  • National Business and Technical Examinations (NABTEB).
  • WAEC City and Guilds or London City and Guilds Certificate.
  • Ordinary National Diploma (OND).
  • Any other equivalent qualification.

Note:

  • Applicants with higher qualifications such as HND, Bachelor’s Degree or equivalents are not eligible.
  • Certificates not declared during the recruitment process will not be accepted afterward.

Medical & Physical Requirements

  • Applicants must be medically, physically, and mentally fit.
  • Disqualifications include: sight or hearing impairments, communicable diseases, mental health issues, stammering, spinal deformities, flat foot, dental issues, tattoos, or BMI irregularities.
  • Minimum height: 1.68m (males), 1.65m (females).

Marital Status & Conduct

  • Applicants must not be married, pregnant, or nursing.
  • Must be free from previous criminal convictions.
  • Applicants must not belong to any secret society or unlawful organization.

Identification & Documentation

  • All applicants must provide a National Identification Number (NIN).

Required documents include:

  • Birth Certificate or Age Declaration.
  • First School Leaving Certificate/Testimonial.
  • Local Government Area (LGA) Identification Form signed by LGA Chairman/Secretary or a recognized senior officer (Commander and above, or equivalent in the Army/Air Force, or CSP and above in the Police).
  • Parent/Guardian Consent Form.
  • Four recent passport photographs signed and stamped at the back by a recognized referee.
  • Scratch cards for WAEC, GCE, NECO, or NABTEB results.

Recruitment Process

Application is strictly online and must be submitted before the deadline.

Aptitude Test Date: Saturday, 29 November 2025.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for further screening and interviews.

Successful candidates will undergo basic military training and be enlisted into the Nigerian Navy as Ordinary Seamen upon completion.
