The University of Global Health Equity (UGHE), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, is proud to announce the 2026 Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program — a transformative opportunity designed to empower 500 exceptional young Africans who are academically gifted and committed to driving positive change across the continent.
This fully funded scholarship enables scholars to pursue a Master’s degree in either Global Health Delivery (MGHD) or Health Professions Education (MHPE) at UGHE, Rwanda.
Through this initiative, the Mastercard Foundation and UGHE aim to remove barriers to higher education for young Africans—particularly women, refugees, displaced youth, and persons with disabilities—and to nurture the next generation of leaders in health equity and social impact.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be citizens of African countries, particularly women, persons with disabilities, or displaced/refugee youth.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
- Be 35 years old or younger at the time of application (exceptions apply for applicants with disabilities).
- Demonstrate academic excellence and a strong commitment to community service and health equity.
- Show evidence of transformative leadership potential and dedication to improving healthcare systems across Africa.
