Fully Funded Postgraduate Scholarships in Actuarial Science, Insurance, Statistics & Related Fields | ARC–GSSP Scholarship Programme 2026/2027
African Risk Capacity Limited (ARC Ltd.), in partnership with the Global Shield Solutions Platform (GSSP), is inviting applications for the ARC–GSSP Scholarship Programme 2026/2027.
The programme provides comprehensive funding for outstanding African students pursuing postgraduate studies in actuarial science, insurance, agricultural statistics and related disciplines that contribute to strengthening Africa’s resilience to climate change and disaster risks.
Successful scholars will study at selected partner universities in South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal or Ghana, with funding available for up to two years of full-time postgraduate study.

About African Risk Capacity Limited
African Risk Capacity Limited (ARC Ltd.) is a financial affiliate of the African Risk Capacity Group. Founded in 2014, ARC Ltd. provides parametric insurance and risk-financing solutions designed to help African Union Member States and other eligible organisations manage the financial impact of climate-related disasters and other extreme events.
The scholarship programme is delivered in partnership with the Global Shield Solutions Platform (GSSP), which is managed by the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. The partnership aims to develop a new generation of African professionals with the expertise needed to strengthen climate and disaster risk management across the continent.

Who Can Apply
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen of an African Union Member State
- Hold a relevant undergraduate degree in actuarial science, disaster risk management, mathematics, statistics, engineering, environmental management or another related discipline
- Apply for an eligible full-time postgraduate programme
- Meet the admission requirements of the selected partner university
- Have secured admission or be in the process of obtaining admission to an eligible programme at a partner university
- Meet all other requirements of the scholarship programme
- Commit to working in Africa for two years after graduation
- Complete an internship in accordance with the programme requirements
University Admission and Scholarship Applications
The university admission application and ARC–GSSP scholarship application are separate processes.
Applying for the scholarship does not replace an application for admission to one of the participating universities. Applicants must select an eligible programme and follow the admission requirements and procedures of the relevant university in addition to completing the scholarship application.
Applicants may apply for the scholarship while they are still in the process of obtaining admission to an eligible programme.

How to Apply
The application process involves the following steps:
- Review the eligibility requirements and confirm that you qualify.
- Choose an eligible programme at one of the participating universities.
- Apply separately for admission to the selected university.
- Complete the ARC–GSSP Scholarship application form and submit all required supporting documents.
- Eligible applications will be reviewed and shortlisted.
- Shortlisted applicants may undergo further university review and scholarship panel interviews.
- Successful applicants will receive an official scholarship offer and instructions on the next steps.
Applications are available for both English-speaking and French-speaking candidates.
