About the MTN Foundation MUSON Scholarship
The MTN Foundation MUSON Scholarship offers beneficiaries the opportunity to pursue a full-time diploma in music at the prestigious MUSON School of Music.
The programme is designed to produce well-rounded, professionally trained musicians who can gain direct entry into universities to complete undergraduate degrees in music. The curriculum follows internationally recognized conservatoire standards, providing students with world-class musical education and practical training.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Possess either:
- General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level with credits in at least five (5) subjects, including English Language; or
- Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) with at least five (5) credits, including English Language.
- The required O’Level credits must be obtained in not more than two sittings before admission into the diploma programme.
- Hold a Grade 5 or higher Practical Certificate from the MUSON School of Music or another music examination body recognized by MUSON.
- Hold a Grade 5 or higher Theory Certificate from the MUSON School of Music or another recognized music examination body.
Note: Applicants who possess the required Practical or Theory certificates are considered to have satisfied the GCE/SSCE music requirements.

Candidates who demonstrate exceptional practical ability but do not meet the theory requirement may still be considered for admission. Such candidates must complete a remedial music theory course and meet the required standard during their first year of study.

In addition:
- Students must study a minor instrument outside their major instrumental family for two terms.
- Voice students must pass Grade 2 Piano.
- Instrumentalists must complete Vocal Techniques.
- All students are required to participate in the Choir.
- String majors must perform in the Orchestra.
- Wind and percussion majors must participate in the Band.
- Other students may audition for the Orchestra or Band.

Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will undergo:
- A written examination in Music Theory (Grade 5 standard) and general music knowledge.
- A practical audition on their major instrument or voice (minimum Grade 5 standard).
- An oral interview.
Successful candidates will subsequently receive admission offers into the programme.
