Google AI Bootcamp 2026 in Partnership with African Technology Forum for African Students & Graduates
Applications are now open for the ATF Google AI Challenge 2026, a fully funded pan-African AI training and innovation programme designed for university students and recent graduates across Africa.
The programme is organized by the African Technology Forum (ATF) in partnership with Google and Wulove Foundation to help young Africans gain practical AI skills, build real-world solutions, and prepare for the future of work.
It is a hands-on innovation experience focused on learning, collaboration, mentorship, product development, and career opportunities.
About the Programme
The ATF Google AI Challenge aims to train and support the next generation of African innovators, developers, creators, and technology leaders.
Participants will learn how to apply Artificial Intelligence to solve real problems across sectors such as:
- Agriculture
- Health
- Finance
- Education
The initiative plans to support over 15,000 young Africans across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa.

Programme Structure
Phase 1 — The AI School
Duration: June – July 2026
Participants will undergo a 4-week virtual AI bootcamp designed for both beginners and aspiring innovators.
Training areas include:
- AI Fundamentals
- Python Basics
- Prompt Engineering
- AI Ethics
- Practical AI Applications
No prior AI or coding experience is required for the beginner track.
Phase 2 — The AI Challenge
Duration: August 2026 – April 2027
Participants will form teams and develop practical AI solutions addressing real African challenges.
Top teams will receive:
- One-on-one mentorship
- Technical guidance
- Compute and cloud credits
- Support in building a working prototype (MVP)
Phase 3 — Demo Day
Date: May 2027
Top teams will pitch their innovations live during regional Demo Days held in:
- Lagos
- Accra
- Nairobi
- Johannesburg
Participants will showcase their solutions before:
- Investors
- Employers
- Corporate partners
- Technology leaders

Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be based in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, or South Africa
- Be a university student or recent graduate (0–3 years after graduation)
- Have interest in technology and innovation
- Be available to commit 5–10 hours weekly during the AI School phase
Beginners are welcome. Prior AI experience is not compulsory.
