In a major effort to improve basic education, the Bauchi State Government has approved the recruitment of 2,000 teachers for public schools.
This announcement was made by the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Adamu Duguri, after inspecting several newly completed model schools under the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) initiative.
Speaking through a press statement issued by SUBEB’s Public Relations Officer, Isah Jungudo, Duguri said the move was aimed at fixing the shortage of qualified teachers in public schools. He added that the recruitment would help boost the standard of education in the state and support the state’s education reforms.
“The administration of Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has not only significantly reduced the number of out-of-school children but also taken bold steps to improve the overall standard of education in Bauchi State,” Duguri stated.
Representing the chairman, the Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, Alhaji Adamu Duguri, highlighted that the state government’s commitment is evident in the construction of modern learning facilities.
The newly built Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Model School is expected to accommodate 700 pupils, while Kobi and Ibrahim Bako Model Schools will take in over 300 pupils each.
Duguri praised the governor for prioritizing education by investing in both school infrastructure and teacher recruitment. According to him, the planned recruitment will lead to better classroom teaching and improved academic performance among students.
