Eligibility Criteria

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Have at least 2 years of professional experience (after completing a Bachelor’s degree).
    • Note: Employment in academia (teaching/research at a university) is generally not considered relevant experience, except in rare cases.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree (in a related field) obtained within the last 6 years, with above-average results.
  • Show clear development-related motivations and career goals.
  • Not have lived in Germany for more than 15 months prior to the application deadline.
  • Provide official English proficiency test results, such as:
    • IELTS Academic (minimum Band 6.5), or
    • TOEFL iBT (minimum 90).

Scholarship Benefits

The DAAD AgEcon Scholarship provides a comprehensive support package, including:

  • Full tuition coverage for the 2-year Agricultural Economics Master’s program at the University of Hohenheim.

Monthly stipend:

  • €992 for Master’s students,
  • €1,300 for doctoral students (€1,400 starting Feb 2026).
  • Health, accident, and personal liability insurance.
  • Travel allowance (to and from Germany, plus research-related travel).
