Eligibility Criteria
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of a developing country.
- Have at least 2 years of professional experience (after completing a Bachelor’s degree).
- Note: Employment in academia (teaching/research at a university) is generally not considered relevant experience, except in rare cases.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree (in a related field) obtained within the last 6 years, with above-average results.
- Show clear development-related motivations and career goals.
- Not have lived in Germany for more than 15 months prior to the application deadline.
- Provide official English proficiency test results, such as:
- IELTS Academic (minimum Band 6.5), or
- TOEFL iBT (minimum 90).
Scholarship Benefits
The DAAD AgEcon Scholarship provides a comprehensive support package, including:
- Full tuition coverage for the 2-year Agricultural Economics Master’s program at the University of Hohenheim.
Monthly stipend:
- €992 for Master’s students,
- €1,300 for doctoral students (€1,400 starting Feb 2026).
- Health, accident, and personal liability insurance.
- Travel allowance (to and from Germany, plus research-related travel).

- Updated CV (Europass format, reverse chronological, without gaps).

- Proof of English proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL).
