TradeRoots Africa International Chamber of Commerce Programme 2026/2027 for African SMEs
Launched by the ICC Centre of Entrepreneurship at the 2025 B20 Summit in South Africa, the TradeRoots Africa Ecosystem supports SMEs across the continent to become export-ready under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Regional Economic Communities (RECs).
By turning continental and regional trade policies into practical business opportunities, TradeRoots Africa empowers African businesses to compete across regional and global markets.
In collaboration with ICC national committees and African chambers, TradeRoots Africa will build an SME support system through a practical, sequenced framework focused on six key pillars:
- Business development
- Trade knowledge and market access
- Trade finance
- Logistics, customs and air transport
- Digital trade tools
- Mentorship

Requirements
The programme seeks a balanced cohort of emerging SMEs, growth-stage businesses and established SMEs with strong potential to scale across African markets.
To apply, your business must meet the following criteria:
Your Business
- Be majority African-owned
- Be registered and legally operating in an AfCFTA State Party*
- Have been trading for at least 24 months
- Have a minimum annual turnover above USD 5,000
- Have a product or service that is ready for export, rather than just a business idea

Candidate Profile
- Digital Trade Readiness: Demonstrate a scalable digital presence and be discoverable through an active e-commerce platform, online marketplace or social commerce channel.
- Active Participation: The business owner or a senior manager must personally participate in the programme.
